Autumn 2026: Bedroom Trends
Bedrooms are warming up this autumn. Cool greys and flat white walls are giving way to clay, caramel and mushroom tones, layered with linen, wool and boucle for something that feels like a retreat rather than a showroom. Warm greige, muted terracotta and creamy off-white are doing the job cold blue-greys used to do.
On the bed, linen duvets and wool throws in sand, rust and chocolate build depth without shouting, and a boucle headboard softens the whole room. Timber has warmed up too: walnut and smoked oak are replacing pale, high-gloss finishes, paired with brass or bronze hardware for a quiet, heritage feel. The schemes that work best stick to three or four tones, repeated across fabric, wall and hardware, rather than scattering colour everywhere.
Warm metal on the furniture is this season’s defining detail. Brushed brass, bronze and caramel finishes have replaced cool chrome on wardrobes, bedside tables and built-in storage. It’s like jewellery for the room: small, but transformative. For fitted wardrobes, an elongated pull in a warm finish echoes the tall, tailored lines of a good hotel. On bedside cabinets and chests, something more compact keeps the scale right. Backplates started as a practical fix for old screw holes. Now they’re chosen on purpose, framing a handle and running a slim band of metal across a drawer or door front. Our Special Works backplates are made from solid recycled brass and hand-finished to order, offering a more considered way to customise furniture and fitted storage. Available in finishes including Brushed Satin Brass, Brushed Satin Nickel, Chrome, Matt Black and heritage tones such as Patinated Brass and Antique Brushed Bronze, they can transform even the simplest piece.
A slim brass backplate behind a simple knob can elevate a plain painted bedside table instantly, while on wardrobe doors, a linear backplate draws the eye upwards, helping to emphasise the height of the room.
Rigid, low-slung frames are giving way to rounded forms throughout the bedroom, not just on the bed. Hardware follows the same logic. Our Bowland range is refined and restrained, available as knob, pull handle, T-bar or appliance pull. A good option where you want the softness to come from fabric and lighting, and the hardware to stay quietly in the background.
None of this lands without the right light. A single overhead fitting flattens everything, brass included. Three layers work better: a low bedside lamp, a wall or reading light at headboard height, and a ceiling light on a dimmer. Warm white bulbs in the 2200 to 2700K range bring out the richness in both timber and brass, and swapping a cool 4000K bulb for a 2700K one is one of the cheapest changes you can make to a room.
