When the full renovation of Temple Court began in March 2024, relocating the kitchen to the front of the house transformed how the home is experienced, introducing more natural light, garden views, and a renewed sense of flow throughout the space.
Designed and installed by The White Kitchen Company, the space balances English Heritage cabinetry, a bespoke stained island, Cimstone Calacatta Mystic surfaces and an ILVE Milano range cooker. It’s a kitchen that feels calm, considered and quietly confident.
Rather than treating hardware as a finishing layer, it was selected as part of the overall architectural language of the room.
From our Style Guide collection, The White Kitchen Company selected the Crofts & Assinder Dorchester Knob, finished in Brushed Satin Brass. With its smooth curvature and generous proportions, Dorchester brings softness to the structured lines of the English Heritage cabinetry. Its rounded form feels familiar and enduring, sitting comfortably within both classic and contemporary settings.
Across longer drawers and cabinet runs, the Bowland Handle from our Special Works collection, also in Brushed Satin Brass, introduces a more linear counterpoint. Bowland is pared back and precise, offering refined simplicity that complements rather than competes.
Used together, the two designs create subtle variation without disrupting cohesion. Rounded and linear profiles sit in quiet dialogue, adding rhythm to the cabinetry while maintaining restraint.
The warmth of the brassware works naturally alongside the veining of the Calacatta Mystic surfaces and the depth of the stained island. Nothing feels overly contrasted or overly matched — instead, the materials relate to one another in a way that feels intentional.
This measured approach to material and tone contributes to the overall cohesion of the scheme. In a high-use space such as the kitchen, considered detailing supports both aesthetic longevity and practical durability.
“For Temple Court we specified the Crofts & Assinder Dorchester knob on the doors and the Bowland handle on the drawers, both in Brushed Satin Brass. It’s the one finish that ties the Old White, the Selvedge blue and the dark stained island together, and sits naturally alongside the warm veining in the Calacatta Mystic worktops.” – The White Kitchen Company
