FAQs

Answers to common questions about our architectural and cabinet hardware and handles, specification and services.
61. What warranty do you offer?

All of our products come with a two year warranty, as standard. However, with proper care, we expect them to last a lifetime.

62. Can hardware be refinished?

Our hardware products can be refinished. However, depending on the finish required and the age of the product, there may be a drop out of the product being reworked. In such cases where this risk is identified, you will be advised by our dedicated Customer Support team.

63. Are products tested for durability?

Our products are subjected to a number of stringent QC tests – these include tests related to the durability of finish, strength of products and material composition.

64. Is brass recyclable?

Yes, brass is 100% recyclable and all of our brass handles are made from 100% recycled brass too. So, you can be sure your hardware is as sustainable as it can be.

65. Are products environmentally friendly?

All of our products can be recycled in line with our Company Product End of Life policy. All of our brass handles are made from recycled brass thus creating a full circular economy. Crofts & Assinder take its environmental responsibilities incredibly seriously and has a robust ESG plan and commitment to become carbon neutral by 2035 in line with the GHG protocols.

66. Do finishes contain harmful chemicals?

Our products are subjected to REACH testing to ensure that no harmful chemicals are present as in line with the REACH regulations.

67. How do I protect handles during installation?

We do not advise using power tools to attach screws to the product as this may strip the screw thread of the handle or knob. We advise that our products are fitted last on the unit by installers and are kept in their protective bags until fitted.

68. Are Crofts products suitable for listed buildings?

Over the last 150 years, our handles have furnished many important historical buildings including the Ritz and Waldorf hotels in London as well as cruise ships of the White Star and Cunard lines. Our products are at home in listed buildings due to the long history which our company shares with them. Stylistically, there’s something within both our Style Guide and Special Works ranges to marry up with whatever aesthetic is desired.

69. Do you comply with UK standards?

Yes, we comply with UK standards and adhere to all legislation. We will go above and beyond where possible.

70. How long has Crofts been established?

Founded in 1875 by George Crofts and George ‘Frederick’ Assinder, we have maintained our name as one of the leading handle suppliers in the UK for over 150 years.
